Since being elected in 2018, Governor Gretchen Whitmer has been an advocate for our communities and a force for positive change in Michigan. Gov. Before becoming governor, Gretchen Whitmer served in the state legislature, where she made waves fighting for working families and shared powerful testimony on the Senate floor about her experience with sexual assault as Republicans worked to pass a controversial and dangerous “rape insurance” bill.

After her election in 2018, Attorney General Dana Nessel got right to work on fighting corruption and sticking up for working families across the state.
AG Nessel has consistently refused to let corporate interests have their way. In 2019, she created a task force to tackle payroll fraud and ensure workers are paid fairly. She’s also taken corporate polluters to task with lawsuits against big companies responsible for PFAS chemicals in our water and her ongoing fight to shut down Line 5.
Throughout her first two years in office, AG Nessel fought back against the Trump administration’s corrupt and dangerous policies and joined onto numerous lawsuits challenging rules that would harm Michigan families. She also took swift and decisive action against bad actors who came to our state to spread lies about our elections.

Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson is a leading expert on election policy and an advocate for fair, accessible elections. After Michiganders overwhelmingly voted to expand our voting rights in 2018, Benson helped implement the changes under Proposal 3 and make the 2020 election the most secure in our state’s history.
Throughout her time in office, Benson has worked to ensure every Michigander has the information they need to exercise their voting rights—because she understands that our democracy works best when everyone can participate. Under her leadership, Michiganders turned out to vote in record numbers, despite a deadly pandemic and rampant disinformation.
Now, she’s ready to build on that success and further modernize our elections. Benson openly supports making Election Day a holiday, mailing absentee ballot applications to all eligible voters, and other policies that will expand access to the ballot box. She also recognizes the need to support local clerks and ensure they have the resources they need to keep things running smoothly.
